This approach avoids injury of superior gluteal nerve in revision hip surgeries. It allows safe extension of the exposure superiorly and posteriorly along the hip bone with easy application of heavy armentarium around the acetabulum in hip revisions. The safety of such exposure has been verified by cadaveric dissection of 16 formalin fixed cadavers in the dissection room
